What is Ableism? (And Why It's Bullshit)
Ableism is when society builds everything for neurotypicals and then acts shocked when we struggle to perform in a system that was never designed for us.
What ableism actually is:
- "Just focus" (wow, cured)
- Open office plans with fluorescent lighting and then wondering why I'm "not a team player"
- Expecting me to work, socialize, communicate, and exist exactly like an NT—and calling it "fairness"
- "We don't do accommodations, we treat everyone equally" (that's... that's the problem)
- Job interviews that are 90% eye contact and small talk, 10% actual job skills
The scam: They set up an obstacle course built for one body type and then call it a "level playing field."
Equality ≠ treating everyone identically
Equality = not punishing people for having different needs
The real bullshit: Being told I have a "disorder" because I can't thrive in an environment that was specifically engineered to exclude how my brain works. That's not a medical diagnosis—that's an architectural review.
